Founded in 2000, Almende is a Rotterdam based research company specialized in organizing networks using principles of self-organization and multi-agent technologies. Positioned at a crossroad of academic research, innovation, development and industry makes Almende a versatile and trustworthy partner in research projects.

The focus of Almende research is on information and communication technology, especially multi-agent technology, used to organize networks of people, networks of things and sensor networks. Almende’s strength is applying principles self-organization as a source of inspiration for new and sometimes suprising solutions.

The organization of Almende consists of research staff, PhD students, project managers and software developers. This gives Almende a broad range of in-house scientific expertise and skills. Almende provides fundamental contributions to European and national research projects in the domains of telecommunication, logistics, incident management, health care, energy management, sensor networks and neurorobotics.

Almende's unique position results in a growing number of partnerships with Dutch and European universities and knowledge institutes. Furthermore, Almende invests in longterm relationships with visionary enterprises from a variety of application domains. Adding to this “window on the market” is our aim to convert fundamental research into innovative business concepts and real-world applications by creating spin-offs.

Almende's best wishes for 2010!

logo FIT4GreenAlmende would like to wish everyone a happy 2010! For Almende, this year means the start of three new projects. One of these is the FP7 project FIT4Green. This project aims at ICT energy reduction. It does that by creating an energy-aware layer of plug-ins for IT data centre automation  frameworks.
